BAKERY POSITION

The Next Page Bookstore & More is looking for a part-time pastry baker for our café/restaurant. We are looking for someone who has good baking experience either personally or professionally to add some new and creative items to our existing selection.

Schedule and Wages

We are looking for someone to work:

 2 days a week for approximately 2-3hrs each shift. This will be a set schedule which you can select, but needs to be arranged ahead of time.

The shifts needed are for:

                                          Mondays 8-10am, 2-4pm, or 6-8pm plus cleanup time

                                          Wednesday 6-8pm plus cleanup time or

                                          Thursday 8-10am plus cleanup time

There may be additional hours available for special catering events.

The compensation begins at minimum wage with raises available depending on your reviews and performance.  Pay schedule is NOT the same as a café worker.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Keeping the bakery case and deli case filled at all times with baked goods.

2. Keeping all items in the cases fresh and monitoring each shift for freshness and quality.

3. Doing waste reports for items that don’t sell.

4. Baking a variety of baked goods that we currently sell and coming up with new ideas which may include researching other bakeries/cafes for popular items.

5. Making sure the kitchen is cleaned up and ready to go for the next shift before you leave each shift. This includes mopping the floor, washing dishes, and putting all items away.

Required Skills

1. Be organized, flexible, and reliable

2. Be a self starter and motivated

3. Be efficient in the kitchen due to limited amount of hours per shift

4. Be able to do creative marketing and displays

This position is after store hours so you will not be burdened with the regular duties of the café. You will be managing yourself and will need to be independent, trustworthy, and comfortable with working alone.
