INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE
The Next Page Bookstore is looking for an individual that will oversee and manage all day to day book related activities. The function of this position is to ensure the store is profitable by increasing sales and keeping costs within a budget.
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Ordering book related supplies and stock.
- Return items to publishers and wholesalers.
- Interact with publishers and wholesalers.
- Liaison to author events.
- Process used books.
- Maintain and update book related information on website and newsletter.
- Some financial bookkeeping and occasional cafe work
Required Skills
- Proficient on computer and social networks
- Have a knowledge of books
- Be organized, flexible, and reliable
- Be a self starter and motivated
- Have customer service skills
- Must be able to self manage projects and agendas
Education/Work experience
High school diploma or GED
Some college preferred but not required
An aptitude for business management
Retail and management experience preferred but not required
Compensation and Schedule
This position is part-time.
The pay starts at $9.00/hr
There is a set schedule and is as follows:
Monday 10am-2:30pm (every other week)
Tuesday 2pm-6pm
Wednesday 2pm-6pm
Thursday 2pm-6pm (3-8 summer hrs)
Friday 2pm-6pm (3-8 summer hrs)
Saturday 10am-4pm (every other week)
